The Avaya Wireless AP-1 Access Point is about the size and shape of a paperback book. Supplied brackets make it easy to place on a wall or desktop. And a special slot for a Kensington Lock enables you to secure the unit from theft.

Industry-standard wireless networking
The Avaya Wireless solutions are firmly based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11b (Wi-Fi compliant) standard for wireless LANs. You get robust, reliable connectivity and the high performance of wired LANs, but with the flexibility, mobility, and low cost of wireless. Because Avaya Wireless networking is fully compatible with existing wired and wireless LANs, you can use it to build a complete wireless infrastructure, add to an existing wireless LAN, or add a wireless extension to a wired LAN.

Seamless integration with Ethernet LANs
The AP-1 offers a standard 10Base-T Ethernet port with an RJ-45 connector. So it's easy to add wireless connectivity to your existing wired network.

Easy network management
Avaya Wireless Manager makes it easy to configure your AP-1. You can use this software to centrally manage, control and remotely monitor your enterprise-wide Avaya Wireless network. For broad compatibility, Avaya Wireless Manager is based on the Windows® operating system and complies with industry-standard Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).

Highly secure connections
Security is a natural concern with wireless technology. That's why the Avaya Wireless solutions go beyond the normal security measures. Casual eavesdroppers are thwarted by the system's Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) radio modulation. More sophisticated snoops are blocked by Medium Access Control (MAC) based Access Control Table. For even greater protection, you can employ the supplied 128-bit RC4 encryption. And for the ultimate in secure connections, you can choose from Avaya's broad selection of VPN devices, which provide the "Best" security.

The AP-1 Access Point supports Avaya's previous 2 Mb/s and Turbo products, helping you bring legacy systems into the future.

Power over Ethernet
To simplify installation and give you greater flexibility in placement, you can choose to power your AP-1 units over the same twisted pair cable you use for Ethernet. Avaya's Active Ethernet system includes accessory power injectors (to place DC power onto the Ethernet cable). A splitter, used to separate the DC power back out from the data, is built right into the Access Point. The AP-1 also includes a standard AC power supply.
